SALVATORE'S BLAST Wins it For the Raiders

Posted Saturday, May 26, 2007 by Tony Frascogna
With one out in the bottom of the 11th Mike Salvatore hit a game winning 3 run Taddeian blast into the parking lot @ PMHS. The HR gave the Raiders the 7-4 win and a chance to play for the county title for the second year in a row.

Once again the Raiders got great pitching. This time from Mike Smith 6 1/3, Chris Phelan 1 2/3 and today's winning pitcher Nick Monaco who held Melville scoreless for the final 3 innings.

Several Raiders shined on defense including Dan Farrell, Brian Kennedy, Marcus Stroman and Mike Fuoco.

Pat-Med opened the scoring in the first as Dom DiPresso, 3 for 6 on the day, opened the game with a double to left. They did not score again until the bottom of the 7th trailing 4-2. DiPresso singled and Salvatore doubled to right. Salvatore scored on a ball hit by Dan Farrell that was misplayed by the first baseman. The score remained tied until Salvatore's heroics in the 11th. The Raiders travel to Connetquot on Tuesday and will be home on Wednesday.
