BASEBA - LL PLAYER DAVE PAQUETTE EARNS SPRING ACADEMIC ACCOLADES
Senior Selected to Academic All-District One Second Team
ONEONTA, N.Y.—ESPN the Magazine recently released its spring Academic All-District teams and Oneonta State baseball player Dave Paquette (Medford, NY/Pathogue-Medford) was named to the All-District One College Division Second team for his achievements in the classroom and on the field.
Paquette helped the Red Dragons to a 29-13 record this past spring and runner-up finish in the ECAC upstate New York tournament. As a senior he finished the season with a .331 batting average on 50 hits including 12 doubles a triple and two home runs while driving in 35 runs. His performance this spring earned him second team All-SUNYAC honors.
Paquette played two seasons for Oneonta State after transferring in as a junior. In his two year he put together a .281 batting average and started 68 games, driving in 46 runs on 70 hits and putting together a .993 fielding percentage as the Red Dragons first baseman.
Academically Paquette earned SUNYAC All-Academic team honors last spring. He is scheduled to graduate from Oneonta with a degree in Education and concentration in Math.
ESPN The Magazine sponsors the Academic All-America program, and the CoSIDA Board and members of the Academic All-America Committee, which amounts to just over 100 total voters, select the National Team. To be eligible for the national ballot, the student-athlete had to be selected to its District’s first team. Nominations for the District team are submitted by each athlete’s Sports Information Directors based on the nominees accumulating at least a 3.2 GPA while being a starter or significant contributor to their team.
