Good Start for Monaco

Posted Sunday, March 23, 2008 by Tony Frascogna

Nick Monaco made his first pre-season start on the mound for the Raiders in the Smithtown East scrimmage. He pitched 3 solid innings and also hit a double. Pat-Med played erratic defense, one of the bright spots was Mike Johson throwing out two runners trying to steal.

Marcus Stroman homered and tripled to lead the Raider offense. Mike Smith had the most interesting day getting beaned, having a home run called foul, getting thrown out at home during a double steal and after making a running catch in dead center, flopping over the tempory fence.

Next up for the Raiders, an away scrimmage Monday at Centereach.
