Vogel Throws Shut Out

Matt Vogel threw a shutout to lift Patchogue-Medford Raiders to an 8-0 win over Brentwood at Brentwood State Park in seven innings.

Vogel used 12 strikeouts to move through Brentwood's lineup. Patchogue-Medford Raiders' pitcher allowed no earned runs, two hits and two walks over seven innings.

Patchogue-Medford Raiders blew out Brentwood thanks to 15 hits, including four extra base hits.

Patchogue-Medford Raiders' Tyler Moston, Thomas Rubinstein and Vogel (2 for 5, 3 run HR) combined for nine hits and six RBIs.

Patchogue-Medford Raiders stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring two runs on an RBI double by Justin Mercurio and a sacrifice fly by Peter Agnetti.

Patchogue-Medford Raiders added two more runs in the top of the third. Mercurio's double got things going,, bringing home Moston. That was followed up by Agnetti's single, plating Rubinstein.
