Sachem North outdone by Mercurioand Patchogue-Medford, 7-2

Patchogue-Medford beat Sachem North 7-2 in seven innings on Monday at Sachem North High School behind Justin Mercurio, who went 2-4.

He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Danny D'Onofrio got it done on the mound on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over seven innings. D'Onofrio struck out one, walked four and gave up 10 hits.

Patchogue-Medford went up for good in the first, scoring one run on a sacrifice fly by D'Onofrio.

After posting three runs in the third, Patchogue-Medford again scored three in the sixth. In the third, Patchogue-Medford scored on an RBI single byPeter Agnetti, plating Mercurio.

Mercurio kicked things off with a double, scoring Matt Vogel. That was followed up by Agnetti's double, bringing home Mercurio.

After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the seventh, Sachem North faced just a 7-2 deficit. A sacrifice fly by Ferrari and an RBI single byCostanzo set off a Sachem North rally. The game went final when Fosterflew out.
The won qualifies the Raiders for the playoffs for the tenth straight year.
