The Raiders top Longwood in back-and-forth affair, 8-5
After four lead changes in Thursday's game at Patchogue-Medford High School, the Raiders finally pulled out a 8-5 win over Longwood.
The Raiders finally managed to grab the lead after a strong third inning. The Raiders scored on a two-run double by Brad Malm off Fortunato, bringing home Rich Ciufo and Jon Warasila. A two-run double by Malm scored Ciufo and Warasila to give the Raiders the lead for good.
Malm racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Raiders.
Mike Cardone got it done on the hill on the way to a win. He allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out four, walked none and surrendered six hits.
Fortunato couldn't get it done on the mound for Longwood, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked six and struck out four.
The bottom of the first saw the Raiders take an early lead, 1-0. The Raiders attack began with a single from Andrew Garcia.
The lead was the Raiders' to lose after third inning. More runs came home on two singles.
