The Raiders take early lead in 3-2 win over Brentwood
Three first-inning runs helped the Raiders to a 3-2 win over Brentwood at Patchogue-Medford High School on Thursday.
The Raiders scored in the first on a two-run double by Andrew Garcia and an RBI single by Brett Malm.
Tristan Amone recorded the win for the Raiders. He allowed two runs over 6 1/3 innings. Amone struck out five, walked one and gave up seven hits.
Joe Maselli ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
Brentwood jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Brentwood's threat began with a single by Santino Ycaza. A single by Maselli then moved Ycaza from first to second. Andrew Medina doubled, bringing home Ycaza and Maselli.
Mike Cardone earned his first save of the season pitching the final two thirds of the seventh.
