Rich Ciufo went 2-2 and hit a home run as the Raiders took home a 7-2 victory over Longwood in seven innings at Longwood High School on Tuesday.
He homered in the first inning and singled in the second inning.
Longwood couldn't get anything going as long as Tristan Amone was on the hill. Amone gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.
Josh Browning got the win for the Raiders. He allowed two runs over five innings. Josh Browning struck out five, walked three and gave up five hits.
Fortunato couldn't get it done on the rubber for Longwood, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked five and struck out four.
The Raiders stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the first, scoring three runs on a two-run home run by Ciufo.
The Raiders increased their lead with three runs in the fifth. A hit into a fielder's choice scored Matt Codispoti for the inning's first run. That was followed up by Jon Warasila's single, plating Andrew Garcia and Brett Malm.
Longwood scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut its deficit to five. An RBI double by Encizo and fueled Longwood's comeback. But, Josh Browning got Mele to fly out to end the inning.
