Sixth-inning rally sparks win for thePatchogue-Medford Raiders Varsity, 9-3

The Patchogue-Medford Raiders Varsity beat Ward Melville (East Setauket, NY) 9-3 in seven innings on Wednesday at Home after a six-run explosion in the sixth inning.

The Patchogue-Medford Raiders Varsity scored in the sixth on an RBI double by Frank Papanikolatos, an RBI single by Tristan Amone, a hit by pitch, an RBI single by Erik Matz, an error, and a walk by Dan Codispoti.


Papanikolatos reached base three times in the game for the Patchogue-Medford Raiders Varsity. He scored two runs and had one RBI.



The Patchogue-Medford Raiders Varsity relied on Amone to eat up innings en route to the win. Amone pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, five hits and two walks while striking out three.


Neilsen ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked five, struck out three, and allowed three runs.

The Patchogue-Medford Raiders Varsity stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the third, scoring three runs on two singles.
